Discover all the possibilities and creativity that can be found in this ancient art form. This three-day intensive workshop will take you from beginner to advanced batik techniques. You will learn traditional dying on muslin fabric using professional dyes, fixatives, tjanting tools and molten waxes while learning the steps to complete a four color batik painting.
Instruction will include how to bring any images to a finished batik and work of art.
During this three-day workshop, you may complete several batik projects.. You will work at your own pace while receiving one on one instruction from a professional batik artist.
LOCATION: Kristine Allphin's professional batik studio in a historic building in downtown Hastings Nebraska

Includes workshop fee, all supplies and a light lunch each day
Lodging and transportation are not included. There are several area hotels to choose from and many restaurants within walking distance of the studio.
Please know fees are nonrefundable.
When a class is filled, registration is closed. Payment is required in order to reserve your registration. If you need to cancel, 48 hour notice is requested. Payments will not be refunded but may be credited towards a future workshop.

Hastings Nebraska is centrally located in the United States. Between February and April, 500,000 to 700,000 .Sand Hill Cranes migrate and rest in a 20 mile radius in along the Platte River. Kristine's education and experience in illustration and composition bring an original style, sensitivity, and craftsmanship to her batik work. She has won numerous awards and exhibitions including Stuhr Museum and Nebraska Arts Council and Museum of Nebraska Art. She was featured in the April 2016 issue of Art and Architecture Magazine as an emerging artist to watch. Her work has been purchased for use on Hollywood movie sets, corporations, hospitals and private collectors as far away as Canada and Sri Lanka
